Hello, I am Sophie

I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.

Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Switzerland wasn’t part of the plan we projected for the long term. Like many expat experiences, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, evolving expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built Valley Stone Page

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Switzerland.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on insights from living in Switzerland
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated only when meaningful changes occur

This site ISN'T:

  • Not an official tourism authority resource
  • Not a paid-review platform
  • Not a generic travel diary

Looking Ahead

Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Sophie
